Chiefs praised for their fight for freedom

Of The Gazette StaffLAME DEER – There was a tremor of emotion in Tim Lame Woman’s voice as he stood at the foot of the graves of the Northern Cheyenne chiefs who led their people out of captivity and home to Montana.
The atrocities the American government brought down on the Cheyenne when they were exiled “hurts like it was yesterday,” he said.
“It was a complete attempted genocide of our people by this country, by America,” Lame Woman said.
